By Abhik Sengupta: Twitter has started rolling out the redesigned interface, as promised by the company's new owner, Elon Musk, earlier this week. The new interface is currently limited to the Twitter app, and not all users can use it. Via its Twitter Support account, the company announced that iOS users can now swipe between tabs to see tweets recommended "For you" or tweets from the accounts you're "Following." Interestingly, by default, users will see tweets from accounts they're following.

In the tweet, Twitter's support page revealed that the new "For you" and "Following" tabs replace the "Home" and "Latest" tabs and will be pinned to the top of your timeline, making it easy to switch between them. Instead of tapping the star icon, you can swipe to switch timelines. Previously, Twitter allowed users to view tweets in two different forms. By pressing the star icon on the top-right corner, users can choose between the "For you" and "Latest" options. The "For you" option displayed "Recommended tweets," while the "Latest" option showed the newest tweets from accounts that you follow.

Twitter is yet to inform when the new UI will rollout to Android users. The new interface appears to be rolling out gradually, and Indian users have yet to get it.

Musk had announced that the new design is a part of a larger overhaul. The biggest feature on Twitter is yet to arrive in February. As a part of the update, the company will let users publish "long-form tweets." Though the exact character count remains unclear, Musk had indicated that users could write 4,000 counts.

Originally, the platform let users to share views and opinions, that is, tweet in 140 characters. Twitter increased the limit to 280 in 2018. Although Musk has not specified the character count in his latest tweet, in a post in December 2022, he said that the platform may allow users to post tweets with up to 4000 characters.

Apart from the change in the UI and release of long-form tweets, Musk has announced that Twitter will improve the Bookmark feature, which he refers to as "de facto silent like." The upcoming Bookmark option lets users bookmark a tweet that they can view later on a dedicated tab, which already exists on the app for Android and iOS and the web client. Twitter will also revamp the Bookmark page with categories.
